The Chinese film Dedication, premiered in London, Britain on September 2, 2011, won the Special Jury Award in Filming East Festival.

The film, sponsored by the Publicity Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Health Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is produced jointly by Beijing Tiange Lemai Culture Communication Co., Ltd. and Guangxi Culture Inheritance and Culture Communication Co., Ltd. The film recounts the true legendary life of Mr. Ban Xiuwen, a renowned Traditional Chinese Medicine master in Guangxi and professor of Guangxi Traditional Chinese Medical University, as well as his loyalty and passion for the cause of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The film, with Professor Ban as the prototype, highlights the magic and charm of Zhuang Medicine as well as stories that a great many experts in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Zhuang Medicine inherit, develop and innovate Traditional Chinese Medicine treasures and heal the wounded and rescue the dying with their state-of-the-art skills. Chinese famous actor Lu Qi stars the film as Professor Ban.

“Zhuang Medicine” refers to medical skills and medicine of the Zhuang ethnic minority in China. As everyone knows, China is an ancient nation comprised of fifty-six ethnic groups. Every ethnic group is endowed with its own unique and charming culture, all of which constitute the broad and profound Chinese Culture.

In the Filming East Festival’s Opening Ceremony Salon Party held on August 31, Ms. Wang Xiaohui, the producer of Dedication, recalled how she had been deeply touched by Professor Ban’s life experience, sincerity towards patients and intensive study on, inheritance of and dedication to Zhuang Medicine, which brought her a strong impulse of creation. Ms. Wang also introduced to filmmakers around the world the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China, where the film was shot and the true story took place. Apart from being a world-famous tourist destination and a holy place for health promotion and longevity, Guangxi has also turned out many experts in Zhuang Medicine who shoulder the mission of promoting “Green Medical Science”. Ms. Wang also invited friends around the world to pay a visit to Guangxi and experience the magical Zhuang Medicine in the beautiful place where the story of Dedication took place.

Through winning the award and being screened in London, Britain, Dedication shows the charm of Chinese culture to the world, especially helpful for foreign audiences to understand the magic of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
